UMZUMBE

Set out on a surf trip this weekend. Destination Hibiscus coastline. Stopped of at Scottburgh for a bit of a warm up session which turned out into a 2hr indulgence that had Andre my mate and i crawling out the water.

Final destination, Umzumbe. Locals will have my head for promoting spots in terms of creating crowds, but, i believe in sharing... It was here that a sequence of unfortunate incidents occured. Started off with a freak wave knocking me off my feet while waiting to enter the backline from the rocks... it was funny but when i got up the blood streaming from varies areas of my body made me realise that could be the abrupt end to my surfing for the weekend!! Sat down and noticed that i was slowly beginning to stop leaking and said stuff it, entered the water and unexpectly the wash moved out a lot quicker than anticipated leaving me paddling on rock surface for a moment and gifting me with another gash or two, lovely!

Got out to my mates Andre and Luke who decided to keep their distance from this trawling piece of surfer chum... found out later that divers had actually spotted a 2.1M shark hanging out... had i known hmmmm?

10 minutes later caught a nice clean right, decided to pull out, went airborne and WHAM... got the board in the ribs, never before had i received impact like that, there! So, that was the end to my surfing on my weekend's 'surfing trip'. I now am recovering and word has it i should be good to go in about... 6 weeks, lovely!!
